The ancient art of coiling is part of America's history; The Native Americans used this art to create baskets for every day use as well as ceremonial use.

Kemp uses dyed, natural or baked pine needles along with waxed thread and stitch section to make each piece unique. The base of each piece varies; The ceramic bases are made by potters for coiling. Other bases she use include sliced walnut shells, birch bark, wood pieces, or any other material that would provide the needle formation.
