Glass and Sea
Sue Pruss totally loses all sense of time when immersed in her glass studio. She’ll look at a beautiful new sheet of glass and begin to imagine. Sometimes the texture or pattern ‘tells’ her what to create. Other times, it’s the blending of colors. But the most rewarding aspect of all, is the organic approach she takes in her creations.
The birch trees were constructed by creating a custom sheet of glass to give the illusion of birch bark. The sheet of glass is then cut into thin strips to create the tree trunk. The tree branches are made out of glass rods that Pruss pulls over an open flame. It's a magical process to create a realistic landscape with only glass - no painting involved!
